But now, this dream has come true: people use a common stone in nature - basalt, drawing to make continuous basalt fiber (CBF), and on this basis to produce a variety of advanced products, from aerospace equipment to weaponry , from bulletproof clothing, fireproof clothing to brake pads, fishing rods, ......, widely used in aerospace, aviation, military, firefighting, automotive, shipping, construction, environmental protection, sports and other fields, has a broad application prospect! Once worthless hard stone magnificently transformed into a high value-added new green material of the 21st century!

China began to pay attention to the development of continuous basalt fiber from the end of the 20th century, and in 2002, the Ministry of Science and Technology included the development of continuous basalt fiber in the "863 Plan", after 20 years of development, has been in the forefront of the world, but the public does not know much about basalt fiber. Academician Liu Jiaqi from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of Chinese Academy of Sciences has been actively guiding and promoting the development of new basalt fiber materials in China, and has recently published a monograph "Basalt Fiber Materials". This article is based on the book to briefly explain how to make basalt "turn stone into gold".
